About me
I am a very dedicated, compassionate, humorous, easygoing and empathetic person. I connect to people from varied cultures, religions, and every walk of life. Part of that ease of connection and love for it was fostered in me from childhood - due to the fact that I have been very fortunate to live in many different countries around the world since I was very young.
I was born in upstate NY while my father was finishing his PhD from Cornell University. And I'm also Canadian by citizenship. Some of the countries I have lived in are: Guyana, S. America; Scotland, UK; Toronto, Canada; and Dhaka,Bangladesh.
I was part of the selected few at the gifted program in my high school, York Memorial Collegiate Institute (YMCI) in Toronto, Canada. I graduated to attend pre-med at the Life Sciences Program of University of Toronto. After that, I transferred (in order to fast-track) to go all the way to Dhaka, Bangladesh to attend the renowned and best private medical school there - Bangladesh Medical College (BMC). It was there in South Asia, that I immersed myself into my rich cultural root, lived with my grandparents, and got the very best education. Long and hard years later, I graduated as one of the top students in my class with (almost) straight A+s (two Bs) throughout medschool, completed my internship (residency), and returned to start my life back up again in N. America.
So, by my (first) grad school education, degree and profession - I started off as a Medical Doctor. However, I did not practice here in N. America because I was Blessed with my first child while pursuing my medical licensure exam. I had a difficult pregnancy which made me put my medical career on pause for a few years so that I could enjoy my children and the role of motherhood fully. As the years went by, I had a change of heart (with regards to returning to the world of medicine). I found myself not wanting to return to medicine. I wanted a change of career to allow myself to have a true work-life balance with my family. I wanted to choose a career that would still allow me to use my talent, thrive, and be a part of the healthcare industry.
And that is how - finally - Electrolysis came into my life!
After seeing first-hand the difference that electrolysis hair removal makes to a client's confidence and quality of life, I attended the Illinois Dedicated Electrology Academy (IDEA) in Oak Park, Illinois, completed my academics and meticulous training, and graduated at the top of the class (96% marks) in August, 2020. I received my license (97% marks on my State Board Licensing Exam) to practice in this beautiful midwest state (of Illinois, USA)!
But still you ask...why Electrolysis? What a wonderful thing Electrolysis is, I tell you! The science of it, the incredible and life-changing results it provides to those in need, the ability to relate to my clients with their concerns, the compassion and dedication that goes into the work, and the depth of conversations and connections with the clients. All this, while still getting that aforementioned dose of needing to help others (as a doctor-come-electrologist) - are all the wonderful reasons that this career was Chosen for me.
Full disclosure: my transparency about my childhood, travels, education, and career... is so that you can feel confident when choosing to put yourself into my capable hands as a very caring person, as well as a Licensed Electrologist. Please know that I will not be providing any kind of diagnosis, treatment, or prognosis as a Medical Doctor and I will not take part in any/all the roles and responsibilities one in that profession would be responsible, accountable, and liable for. My expertise and services will be contained and based on my thorough knowledge and skill, as a practicing Licensed Electrologist.
